I heard a radio ad while driving for a free trial, 30 days for Bare Minerals kit. I called and the rep told me for $10.51 $9.99 plus shipping and handling, you can try out the product and if you call in 30 days, say not for me, no further charges will be added.

There was another kit that you could ad on to the free one, but if you didn't like that product you had to return that part of of the product trial. I went for the base one because I do not like to return stuff and figured for the $10.51 I could at least try their product to see if I liked using only powder and a brush. That was June 2012

Within 30 days, I called and told Bare Minerals that I didn't care for the powder iridescent look, in fact mentioned I felt like a goldfish. She laughed, said she had not heard that one before and then talked me into trying the matte, again for another 30 days free, and postponed the Club Membership until October 2012.

Called back in August 2012, within 30 days again and said please cancel my acct, just not for me.

Just got my credit card bill and low and behold, there was a charge of $39.99. Guess I wasn't paying close attention to be bill of July, because ther was a $29.99 charge from them on that statement.

Called Bare Minerals on Sept 9, 2012 and the customer service rep was just astonished that I hadn't ever been told that whether I had called to cancel or not, that the $10.51 that I was charged wasn't for the trial kit, that it was acutally $60.xx and that I had never returned it, so they charged. Confused, I questioned why I was charged $10.51 to begin with, and she said that was just the shipping and handling, not the product charge. Are you kidding me? They are supposidly reviewing the recorded conversations to see if what I am saying is true. Believe me, I would have NEVER tried this out if 1) it had to be returned, 2) it wasn't a free trial period of 30 days and 3) that I was forced into a club that wasn't supposed to even start until October 2012.

Shame on you Bare Minerals...thought you were a reputable company for as long as you have been around. Sorry I ever trusted your sales pitch and expected you to be true to your word. Even if I liked your product, I will never, ever forget what a slimy company you are.

Thank-you for taking the time and the feedback of your experience with Bare Minerals. You saved me from being duped by their company.

I love America and the choices we have in the market place. Poor business practices should be exposed and correct their approach, then Bye bye to them.

The same happened to me with "New Brilliance" facial creams, "free trial" really not free at all. Don't be fooled like I was!

Read the fine print and don't forget to contact company if not interested in continuing with the product within the trial period, which I thought was 30 days.

Very missleading. They say 30 free trial is actually 14 days then your charge full amount for product sent and in my case it was $175 dollars!

Bate and switch tactic coporate robbery This is a poor marketing technique a waste of time I never opened the product. Better offers out there.

COMPANIES are taking a strong advantage of customers not reading.

Devil is in the details . Sad but true.

okay same thing happened to me today.i called them when i returned the product and gave them Tracking number. now they are saying they did not receive the whole package when i returned everything they told me to 2 jars of Foundation , mineral veil and 3 *** brushes. do not ever fall into this trick..............................

I would use a pre-paid credit card in instances such as these, they cannot over charge you then!

Guest

So glad I seen this. Heard that ad this morning and was thinking about it. I am always on alert when it is supposed to be free

Guest

I ordered it. But I love bare minerals and its WAY cheaper.

Have you not been into an actual store for decent/good makeup? It's not like Walmart. Normally each little thing is $27 a piece. Risk free trial does not mean free.

Or that you keep it. Sorry.

That's how stuff is sold. Maybe don't be so quick to give your money out if you don't fully understand the advertisement.

Wow, what a condescending thing to say. You do realize that the author was mislead by the ad AND the representative, right?.

It sounds like you are biased because you happen to like the product, so you don't mind paying what most consider an exceptional amount of money for something as superficial as makeup.

There was no reason to be so rude. Unlike you, who must be of far superior intelligence since you seem to know everything about everything, I also did not fully understand the ad so I am glad I found this review.

Not only are you a classless, condescending, and rude witch (raised by *** were you?), your blatant passive/agressive is showing. Can't get much lower than passive aggressiveness.

WoW. Bet grandma was so proud of you.

SHAME ON YOU BARE *** ENTIALS! I WILL TELL EVERYONE I KNOW TO BOYCOTT YOU.

HIRE SOME QUALITY IMOTOVEMENT PEOPLE WITH A LITTLE INTEGRITY!

Same thing happened to me. Try this product for $1 plus shipping and handling of $9.95.

Got my bill the next two weeks and they charged me $89.99 plus the $9.95 fee. I'm pissed and it doesn't even look that great. No matter what u do it looks orange Or way to dark. I do that like it.

It actually broke my skin out and I can get them to cancel my account . Don't know what else to do

Guest

I heard the same ad today 2/10/15. When I called they did explain that I would be charged about$60 if I did not return the product though I could keep the introductory kit.

When I said that is not free, they said people focus on ""free" when they actually said"risk free". I don't need a product that relies on fooling consumers!

Guest

Wow great! I just purchased the same thing but plan on canceling as soon as I receive it.

I will put the foundation into other little cups I have and return the empty jars. Hope they dont charge me.

They told me that if I return the items I would get my shipping returned to me also. We will see.

Guest

Same thing happened to me. Kept charging me after I canceled.

If they are reviewing the tape, it sounds like they are making an attempt to correct the problem. It seems unreasonable for you to put a complaint when the situation is not resolved yet.

If they give you all your money back and an apology, are you going to suddenly believe they are an upright company to be trusted and remove the complaint. Considering this happened in 2012, it likely has been resolved and still your bad review stands.

You sound like an unreasonable person. In the future, you should read a companies terms of service before you dish out your credit card.

Even if it was resolved they made the mistake in the first place so the review should definitely stand. I would never try this with the risk of going through what this customer went through.

I heard the ad on the radio and it definitely states "free" and the trial is not risk free either since its a hassle to return and cancel that's definitely a big risk lol. However I don't know if bare minerals themselves host this trial...

If people want to try bare minerals they should order the 30 day trial worths off sephora or the website. Nothing in life is ever free

Guest

Thanks, I also heard the radio add and was about to order.

Guest

The product was free, but you had to pay shipping. I'm not sure I understand your complaint.

Her complaint is valid. The radio ad was very misleading.

The ad should have specified charges for shipping and handling. Also, only a portion of the product is free. If one does not like the product, one does not get to keep the product. One keeps only what has been used and returns the rest otherwise one is charged just as this girl was.

If one likes the product, then one is charged to keep the "free trial"

product(s), join the club, get one's automatic shipments and automatic credit card deductions.

These reps are well trained and know what they are doing. Most new customers, however, do not.

No it's not valid... You call in because you want to try bareminerals.

If you try it and don't like it, Bareminerals charges you absolutely nothing. A trial is a period of time to TRY the product not KEEP the product. Or else it would be called a free SAMPLE. It is a RISK free trial, because bareminerals won't charge you anything if you return it.

Let me see you go to walmart and get 100's of dollars worth of makeup to try for 30 days and then return it at the end after you used it...

Oh wait.. you can't.
